Why is Maintenance Therapy Important?

Maintenance Therapy is about prevention. Through proper home care and maintenance therapy visits to your dentist and periodontist.

The main cause of gum disease is bacterial plaque, a colorless film that constantly forms on your teeth. Toxins produced by the bacteria in plaque attack your teeth. If the plaque is not removed, it turns into rough deposits called calculus or tartar. Daily brushing and flossing will keep the formation of calculus to a minimum, but it will not completely prevent it. The reoccurrence of gum disease can appear in two to four months after your last professional cleaning.

For more information on Maintenance Therapy, please inquire with our staff on your next visit.

Periodontal Disease - What can you do about it?
